TV Sees is a painting of a trance. In 2018, a study conducted by the Bureau of Labor found that 80% of Americans watch television on any given day. They sit together, silently entranced in vicarious adventures to escape reality in the comfort of their own homes. Blue light lassos addictive personalities—those who acutely experience anomie, a sense of alienation from society, characterized by feelings of hopelessness, loss of purpose, and isolation—and promises them dopamine. TV Sees captures the comatose state of screen addiction, a tranquilizer that momentarily quells loneliness, isolation, boredom, or whatever a watcher suffers, until the movie pauses, and reality resumes.
